The commission approved a bid from Ebel of Williston for $5,507.12 that includes 100 access key cards, a Honeywell Access Control System Kit and installation that involves wiring, programming, testing and training.
It’s the same system the county law enforcement center has, said Grant Archer, maintenance superintendent for the county. County employees at the meeting liked the idea.
“I think it will solve a lot of issues of trying to get keys back from employees,” said Kari Everson, county treasurer and recorder.
County Auditor Beth Innis agreed. “I have keys all over the place for the doors,” she said.
In another matter, the commission approved replacing half of the county’s computer servers because they’re aging and faulty. Ebel was the chosen bidder once again at a price of $5,850.
Steve Kemp, a former county employee who works at Ebel, is to do the work and may be able to have it done by May 1, said Jerry Herman, county IT director.
“Once we do this, we should be set for three years,” Herman said.
Meanwhile, the commission also approved bids for gravel crushing, gravel hauling, culverts and tires. Sundre Sand & Gravel got the gravel crushing bid, Getzlaff Trucking the gravel hauling, Johnston Fargo, Contech and Cretex Concrete is to do the culverts and Williston Tire is to take care of the tires.
In other business, the commission:
• Approved having Chairman Dan Kalil sign a county commission unity letter for removing caps from oil county production. The letter is to prove to legislators and lobbyists the group is in support of removing caps off county production and increased impact funding, according to an e-mail from Vicky Steiner of the North Dakota Association of Oil and Gas Producing Counties.
• Heard the county has created about $250,000 in expenses from snow removal in January. Williams County Emergency Services Director Michael Casler said he’d have more information at a later date about what the county is eligible to receive for assistance.
Heard from Richard Ryan, county building inspector, that Tioga is receptive to the county’s building program and is interested in using Ryan’s services.
There’s a developer interested in building in Tioga this spring, he said. Ryan is to meet with Ray officials on Monday about building inspections.
• Nelson wants to remind township officials that applications for oil-impact grants are due by March 27.
