Verna Daniel

Verna Daniel, 83, Ray, died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 17, 2009, at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing Home in Williston. Her funeral Mass is at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Ray. The Rev. Sebastian Gregory will officiate and interment will be held in the spring at St. Michael’s Cemetery.

Rosary services are at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20, at the Fulkerson Funeral Home chapel, Williston. The Rev. Raymond Aydt will officiate. Friends are welcome to sign an online guest registry at www.fulkersons.com.

Verna Alice Daniel was born March 29, 1925, in Fromberg, Mont., to Carl and Nellie (Stacy) Hauge. She was raised on a farm near Temple, N.D., and attended grade school at Temple. She graduated from Ray High School.

Upon graduation, Verna moved to Bremerton, Wash., to work in the defense industry during the war. She returned to Ray and was united in marriage to Edmund Daniel on Oct. 29, 1946. The couple lived on the farm near Ray and Verna worked as a bookkeeper for Farmers Union Oil and Basin Oil Company. Verna also worked as a nurse’s aide at the Tioga hospital for a time.

The couple moved to Ray, where they lived until Edmund’s death in 1997. Verna moved to the Kensington in Williston in 2002 and then into Bethel Home in 2008. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Ray and the St. Michael’s Altar Society. She enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting and playing cards.

Verna is survived by her sons, Tom (Lorella) Daniel of Ray, and Gary Daniel of Williston; grandchildren, Heidi (Jarrod) Vigness of Crosby, Nancy (Gary) Conlee of Minot, Deacon Daniel, and Ava Joy Daniel, both of Williston; stepgrandchildren, Cassandra Browning of Williston, Crystal (Jon] Gratton of Minnewaukan, Andrew Rogers of Rapid City, and Adam Rogers of Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; great-granddaughters, Emily and Abbey Conlee of Minot; sisters, Betty Weyrauch of Williston and Violet (Willie) Olson of Ray; brothers-in-law, Cecil Daniel of Williston and

Francis Daniel of Eagan, Minn.; sisters-in-law, Sara Barstad of Tioga, Avis Daniel of Williston and Marion Hauge from Ray; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund; parents, Carl and Nellie; and brother, Clyde.

Friends may call at the Fulkerson Funeral Home in Williston on Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and for the hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
