Man dies while driving truck

An oil truck off-road accident on a gravel road in Williams County resulted in the death of a Stanley resident on Sunday morning.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported Melvin Pappa, 63, had dropped off crude oil from a rig site to a pipeline location in a 2002 Mack truck and trailer combination when he drove off a gravel roadway into a ravine south of Tioga.

Although Pappa was not ejected from the truck, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Williams County Sheriff's Office, the Tioga Fire and Rescue and the Tioga Ambulance assisted at the scene.

Property damages were estimated at $20,000.
