Verna was born Aug. 15, 1912, in the Turtle Mountains near Bottineau to Andrew and Clara Torgerson. She was raised and attended school in that area.
Verna married Raymond Pressnall on Sept. 5, 1933, in Lincoln, Neb. They lived for a time in Arkansas and Oregon before returning to Tioga. Raymond died in 1975 and Verna continued to make her home in Tioga until moving to Tioga Long Term Care in 2002.
Verna was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Tioga, and Tioga Senior Citizens. She enjoyed church functions, reading her Bible and making quilts. While living at Long Term Care, she liked to play Bingo, listen to musical entertainment and visit with family and friends.
Verna is survived by daughters, Audrey Ingraham, Denver; Mary Davidson, Tioga; Judy (Harold) Wiedmer, Tioga; Susan (Earl) Syverson, Tioga; Vickie ( Bennie) Schmidt, Turtle Lake; sons: Max (Emily) Pressnall, Tioga; Allen (Dee) Pressnall, Tioga; Steve (Brenda) Pressnall, Rice, Minn.; 19 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; and sister, Adeline Nielsen, Bottineau. She was preceded in death by two brothers, five sisters, husband Raymond, son Dorsey, and grandson, Michael Davidson.
The funeral service will be Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Tioga. Visitation will be Monday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Tioga.
Springan Funeral Home, Stanley, is in charge of arrangements.
