The CVB moved into its new building at 212 Airport Road on Oct. 1. It provides the organization with plenty of space, as well as visibility, said Amy Krueger, CVB executive director.
The CVB was previously located at 10 Main St. in the Armory building, she said. Sometimes, it was hard for people to find it because it was tucked away at the end of Main Street.
The new location by the airport has open space, plenty of parking, easy access and an RV can pull into the parking lot with ease, Krueger said.
The new CVB building is about 2,000 square feet and has two bathrooms, three offices, a conference room and store/reception area. The front porch is to have chairs for people to sit in and relax, she said. In addition, it'll have something new for visitors and locals to buy, as the CVB's new home is to have a North Dakota-product store with souvenirs and gifts made in the state, with the exception of the clothes.
"We wanted to provide tourists and visitors a place to buy souvenirs and North Dakota products, and see what the state has to offer," Krueger said.
The building had been under construction for more than a year, and the process for the CVB to move to a newer location has taken longer than that, she said. The building originally was located at Fort Buford. Since it was moved to Airport Road, the structure has been completely renovated with a new roof, drywall and full basement, she said.
The building project was funded through grants and gaming funds, not tax revenue, Krueger said. The two main grants were a capital Star Fund grant for $35,000 through the Williston Economic Development Office and a $25,000 North Dakota Tourism Infrastructure grant.
Future goals include adding more to the west side of the building for recreation purposes, such as having a gazebo in that area, she said.
The CVB hours are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. For more information, call 701-774-9041.
