Netabelle Erickson

Funeral services for Netabelle Erickson, Morris, Minn., were Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at 7 p.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Chokio. The Rev. Fred Morck officiated. Burial was at Chokio Lutheran Cemetery.

Netabelle Mamie Vance, daughter of Charles and Mamie (Ackerman) Vance, was born Oct. 18, 1918, in Williston, where she grew up and attended and graduated from Williston High School. She was united in marriage to Lloyd Erickson on Sept. 22, 1940. The couple lived in Park River and Watford City before moving to Chokio in 1942. To this union two children were born, Donald and Carol.

Netabelle enjoyed camping, fishing and being with family. Her hobbies included quilting, craft kits and doing jigsaw and crossword puzzles.

Netabelle died on Monday, Oct. 27, 2008, at West Wind Village in Morris, having lived to reach the age of 90 years.

She is survived by one son, Donald and Lois Erickson of Bloomington and their children, Carmen and husband, Steve Meyer of Lakeville and their children, Lorna, Kyle and Ellie Meyer; Chad and Amy Erickson of Lakeville, and their daughter, Emersyn; one daughter, Carol and Dennis “Bud” Marlow of Chokio and their children; Becky Vold and her friend, Robert Steffans and her children, Liz and Alex Vold; Sara and husband, Kurt Staples of Chokio and their children, Clay, Seth and Leah and Matt Marlow of Chokio and his daughter, Chloe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; her parents and three brothers, Richard, Sumner and Roy Vance.

Serving as pallbearers for the service were Netabelle’s grandchildren, Carmen Meyer, Chad Erickson, Becky Vold, Sara Staples and Matt Marlow. Julene Amborn served as organist for the service. Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris was in charge of the arrangements.
