Anna Jorgenson

Anna Jorgenson, 84, a longtime Williston area resident, passed away Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at the Bethel Lutheran Home in Williston.

Her funeral will be celebrated Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008, at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, Williston.  The Rev. Martin Mock will officiate and interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Anna Mathea Hegseth was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Corinth, N.D., to Hans and Anna (Linseth) Hegseth.  She was raised and attended church in Corinth and graduated from Alamo High School.

She went on to attend Minot State College, where she received her teaching certificate. After graduating from the teacher’s college, she taught for a year or two in the Williston area until she was married.

On Oct. 31, 1950, Anna was united in marriage to Haakon Jorgenson in Sidney. They established their home on Haakon’s farm in Mont Township, Williams County, N.D. All through their married life, Anna was a dedicated farm wife, looking after the children and helping Haakon with the farming and ranching activities. Family and the farm were Anna’s life.

She was a longtime member of West Prairie Lutheran Church.

Surviving Anna are her children: sons, LeRoy Jorgenson of Underwood, and Larry Jorgenson and wife, Toni, of Williston; a daughter, Ann Kerr of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandsons, Haakon (Lori) Jorgenson, Joseph “J.W.” (Andrea) Jorgenson and Justin (Jamie) Kerr; two granddaughters, Christina Calacci and Mindy (Mike) Schimel; great-grandchildren, Mercedes and Marlee Jorgenson, Kelly and Adrianna Kerr, Tanner, Tuff, Riley, Grace and Waylon Jorgenson, and Alex  Schimel; a sister, Olga Stenberg of Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Haakon; a son, Haakon Jr. and his wife, Cheryl; her sister, Inga Hanson; an infant sister; her brothers, Herman, Martin and Erling Hegseth; her parents; and a son-in-law, Kelly Kerr.

Friends may visit the Everson Funeral Home Web site at www.eversonfh.com to share thoughts and remembrances of Anna and may call at the Everson Funeral Home of Williston on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday for the hour preceding the funeral.
