Sept. 21, 1943-Aug. 29, 2008

Dorothy Dahl, 64, a longtime Williston resident formerly of Tioga, passed away from natural causes on Friday, Aug. 29, 2008, at her home in Williston.

Her funeral will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at 11a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Tioga. Pastoral Assistant James Hamann will officiate and burial will follow in the United Cemetery in Tioga.

On Sept. 21, 1943, Dorothy Werlinger was born to John and Bernice (Flately) Werlinger in Harvey. Dorothy was one of seven daughters and three sons born to Werlingers. She was raised in Harvey and there received her schooling.

On Dec. 5, 1960, Dorothy married Howard E. Dahl of Fessenden at the Catholic church in Fessenden. The couple found their way to Tioga, where they raised their family. They would later move to Williston in the early 1980’s. Dorothy’s life was centered around their family. She took great pride in keeping a nice home for Howard and the kids. On many days she would welcome the children home with fresh baked buns and brownies.

She enjoyed golfing, camping, crocheting and watching her grandsons race stock cars.

Surviving Dorothy are her four children, Joan Gohrick and her husband, Darren, of McGregor, N.D., and their children, Jason, Joshua (wife, Chelsey), Ryan, Makenzie, Paige, Shantell and Lil’ Makenzie, Shelly Woodward and her husband, Frank, of Bixby, Okla., and their children, Brock, Chelsea and Kress, Connie Johnson and her husband, Kent, of Grace City, N.D., and their children, Jessica, Blake, Austin and Ashley, and Ronald Dahl of Tulsa and his sons, Bryce and Braden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard in 2006; two sons, David Howard and Donald David Dahl, and her parents.

Friends may call at the Everson Funeral Home of Williston to sign the book on Monday from 1-3 p.m. and at the church in Tioga on Tuesday for the hour preceding the funeral.

" I had the rare priviledge of working with Dorothy at Albertsns. She had a great sense of humor and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing her laugh, especially with customers. If she was told a joke by anyone you could hear her laughter to the back of the store. She had a positive effect on others and will be sadly missed by all, especially those going through checkout #5 at Albertsons. " My heart sank when I opened the paper last week and read of Dorothy's passing. I did not know your mom on a personal level but I enjoyed her so much when she would wait on me at Wal-mart and then at Albertsons. Just a couple of weeks ago my sister and I were at seperate checkouts and Dorthy and the two of us were joking around and having a good laugh. Dorothy was a hard worker, and she did it with a smile. My mom, two sisters, and I thought she was a special person. It was really sad today when I went grocery shopping. I feel so badly for all of you who loved her dearly. God's Peace and Love be with you. Deb Sederquest "

" I just loved your mother! Everyone did-friends I didn't even know that knew her-until this week-end. We got to know her at WalMart and would stand in line behind full carts just to have her check us out. Her laugh and joking made the pain of standing in line go away! My friend from Colorado would always say "I can't leave town until we go to WalMart/Albertson's to see Dorothy."
We will really miss her......our thoughts and prayers are with you. (We know how she missed your father). Go Bless!
