Fishing this week suffered a little from the unsettled weather and the reports from the New Town area were not as good as last week.
The activity has also continued moving south ahead of the dirty water with most fishermen working the Pouch Point and Van Hook area.
Some of the activity has been on the north end of Van Hook but most reports are coming from eight pound and south. We still need some warm weather to get the water temps up and some stable weather to really turn them on.
The local fishermen are doing some good on the backwaters of the river where ever they can find cleaner water. Some of the places you would only expect to see rough fish are producing sauger and walleye. Along with all the dirt we are getting down the river is a whole bunch of water and it is really improving the situation on the lake.
Today the lake will be hitting 1,812 feet above sea level. Last month we were at 1,808 so we have already seen a four-foot gain in lake elevation.
