Sweeps are featured on opening night at the races

Sweeps were the theme of the night for the first racing action of the season in the True Value Band Day Races at the Williston Basin Speedway Saturday.

Williston's "Mad" Mike Hagen capped the night by winning the IMCA Modified feature in a strong field of area favorites, while Ed Conlin was second and Hank Berry third. Hagen owned the track all night, taking the trophy dash easily, and ran away in his heat race as well. The other heat winners were Kody Schlopp and Berry, who held off John Flory in a hotley contested race.

In the IMCA street stocks, Kelly Henderson swept his way to the feature win, beating out Robbi Rosselli. Henderson also took the dash and won his heat, while the other heat winner was Dennis Losing, who edged Rosselli.

Dustin Dishon dominated the Mini-Sprints, taking his heat the dash, and won the feature in front of Randy Blotsky and Andee Beirle. The other heat winner was Blotsky.

In the Hobby Stocks, Shawn Nostdahl got out the broom to win the feature, with Derrick Lisafeld taking second and Brock Beeter was third.

Nostdahl and Lisafeld also finished 1-2 in their heat, while Jordan Durward took the other heat. Nostdahl also won the dash to complete the sweep.

The next action at the oval will be Friday night with the One Stop Trailerz Races, with all classes scheduled to take the track.
