Teton hurlers have strong weekend

MILES CITY, Mont. - The Williston State College

men’s baseball team went 3-1 over the weekend.

The Tetons topped Prairie Baseball Academy 6-5 and

shut out Trinity Bible College 5-0 Friday, then

defeated Northland Community College 5-1 before

falling to host Miles Community College 3-0 Saturday.

“We played pretty well, we just struggled a bit

offensively. Our pitching was good and our defense was

pretty solid. If our hitting comes around, we’ll

really be competitive,” said WSC coach Kelly Heller.

Heller said the Tetons didn’t see too many extra base

hits over the weekend, but Chad Nixey did belt a home

run.

In the 6-5 win over PBA, the Tetons won on a wild

pitch in the bottom of the seventh, while K.C. Harris

came on in relief to get the win on the hill.

In the 5-0 win over TBC, Pearce McDonald was the

winning hurler, and Chris Norquay had a couple of

hits.

Against Northland, McHale Maristuen hit the first

batter and walked the second as a couple of subsequent

ground balls allowed a run. He held Northland hitless

until the No. 9 man spoiled the no-hitter with two

outs in the top of the seventh.

Against MCC, Norquay pitched well, but couldn’t get

any run support.
