Everyone is invited to take in a soup and sandwich luncheon today from 11 a.m. to 2:30 at the Ray School to raise the needed dollars.
"We're doing this to let people know what services are available here," said John Halseth, president of the Ray Chamber of Commerce. "It will say, 'Welcome to Ray, home of the Jays,' and then it will have the blue blocks showing what services are available."
The 8 foot by 12 foot sign will be posted on the east side of town. Two poles are already in place from a previous sign.
"The other sign was in shambles," Halseth explained. The sign will notify travelers that Ray has camping, food, gas stations and emergency services (fire and ambulance) available.
"With all the traffic coming through, we want them to know what we have," Halseth said.
Others wishing to simply make donations to the cause may call 701-568-3353.
"All donations are welcome," he said. "It would be great to take care of this with one fund drive."
