"They are made of pop bottles and aluminum," said Haugen Thursday.
In one incident, a mail box was blown up. No injuries were reported
"We caught the people, and they told us about where to find the other two," Haugen said.
The latest device was found in a Powers Lake resident's yard on Feb. 22. "The last one didn't go off," Haugen said.
He said that is why members of the Minot Bomb Squad were used to safely handle/detonate the devices.
According to an article in the Burke County Tribune, Haugen is also warning the public if they spot an empty bottle containing something, they should leave it alone and contact local law enforcement. Bombs found were reportedly on the low end of the spectrum, primarily made to make noise, according to the Tribune.
Haugen released few details about the case.
"There was no threat to the public," Haugen said. "It was a prank that went wrong."
Still, he wants people to extra cautious.
Haugen said arrests were likely pending, but he wants the matter thoroughly investigated.
"We don't know who is all involved. That is why BCI is helping," he said.
