Herald’s new reporter is from Wisconsin By Zach Jacobson, Staff WriterThe Williston Herald welcomes a new reporter from Wisconsin. Kate Kliner, a Milwaukee area native, attended Arizona State University for a couple years before returning to Milwaukee to attend the University of Milwaukee for two more years and wrapped up her studies in Paris, France this past summer. She was also able to do some extra sightseeing while in France. "I got to travel a little after (I was finished with school)," Kliner said. "I went to Italy, Greece, Spain, Switzerland." Kliner was deciding between an internship in San Francisco, Calif. and working at the Herald and she decided it was the right fit for her. Before coming to Williston, Kliner had been working for Kohls writing product descriptions for their catalog. Through her experiences, Kliner said there was one experience that stuck out in her mind. "We were at the botanical gardens in Arizona and I had never really done an interview before...and I had to interview Miss Arizona," Kliner said. Kliner hopes that she is able to add to the paper. "I feel like there is a lot (that can be) done with the paper," Kliner said. "It has a lot of potential." Kliner also has some ideas which she said she hopes will attract and entertain readers. "People like to read about people they know and people they went to high school with," Kliner said. "I'm interviewing someone at the Bethel Home next week and thought that a weekly feature would be cool on someone older in the community." Kliner said she is adjusting well to life in Williston. "(My favorite part about this area) so far is the people," Kliner said. The adjustment to a small town wasn't too hard for Kliner to adjust to. "My grandma is from Marshfield, three hours north (of Milwaukee) and that's a very small town, similar to Williston," Kliner said. "When I was little we would go there a lot." |
