Daniel Maurer has been selected as the new associate pastor at the First Lutheran Church in Williston.

Rev. Maurer grew up in suburban Minneapolis and graduated from Anoka High School in 1989 after having studied in Germany the prior year. He attended Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., and graduated with a B.A. in Economics, German, and Mathematics.

Maurer met his wife, Carol, at Concordia College, and the Maurers made their home in Sidney, Mont., for the next couple of years where Dan was employed at First United Bank and Carol was the director of the extension office of Dawson Community college.

According to a press release, after calling Dan into ordained ministry, God kept the Maurers safe as they started their studies in Dubuque, Iowa, where Carol attended the University of Dubuque and Dan began his Masters of Divinity studies at Wartburg Theological Seminary.

Graduating in 2000, the Maurers moved to Underwood, N,D., where Dan served Augustana and Birka Lutheran Churches and Carol worked for Falkirk Farmers Elevator. The Maurers have two sons Joshua, 6, and Nathan, 2. They come to Williston with anticipation and excitement in Dan's calling as associate pastor at First Lutheran Church and Carol's new beginning as Project Director for the Williston Council on Aging.

Dan enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, the Great Plains and its wild, diverse flora and fauna, and worship that is done well. Carol is a voracious reader, enjoys playing the piano and decorating her home.

Pastor Maurer was installed on June 17. The people of First Lutheran Church welcome Pastor Dan, Carol, Joshua and Nathan into the community.
