Results from the 31st annual Band Day Car Show hosted by the Williston Vintage & Classic Car Club indicate the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro presented by Corey and Kristi Seidel earned Best of Show honors.

It proved to be a sweep as the same vehicle earned the vote of the general public as well by being tabbed as the People's Choice.

Organizers were especially pleased with an influx of cars taking part as 72 vehicles were registered, an increase from the previous year. Throughout the day a steady crowd of onlookers checked out the wide variety of vehicles at the Raymond Family Community Center.

This year a new special interest class was put in place for participants under the age of 21.

The top entries in this division includes Chris Cook and his 1997 Eagle Talon, Brandon Hammer and a 1999 Chevrolet Camaro SS and Matt Clementson displaying his 1999 Ford Mustang.

From the field of 72 that made up the show a Top 20 list is compiled with the registered participants serving as judges.

Those selected for this elite list, in no particular order, included Scott Dige, 1970 Dodge Super Bee; Gary Lokken, 1953 Studebaker Pickup; Corey & Kristi Seidel, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro; Ken Amundson, 1940 Chevrolet; John Sandaker, 1953 Buick convertible; Ron Steffen, 1970 Olds Cutlass; John Stewart, 1970 Mercury Cougar; Greg Davis, 1971 AMC Javelin; Morrill Hirsch, 1941 Chevrolet Coupe and Ron Sylte with a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle.

Making up the remainder of the trophy winners in the Top 20 included Tom Carson, 1949 Ford; Lanny Moore, 1932 Ford; Sam Sagaser, 1969 Dodge Charger; Gary Wendell, 1941 Chevrolet; Dennis Sundheim, 1970 Pontiac GTO; Doug Ness, 1930 Ford Model A; Ken Gustafson, 1958 Chevrolet Impala; Melody Schmidt, 1966 Pontiac GTO; Brian Bronowski, 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner and Bill Lynn displaying a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle convertible.

Club members will now get ready to host the upcoming “Cruise Nights,” which begin at 6:30 p.m. on June 6 at the McDonald's parking lot.

If you want to take part drop by and check out excitement as the group heads out to a different location each week throughout the summer.

Sounds like a lot of fun.

BRATLIEN ALL-AROUND

Abby Bratlien of Tioga proved she is not only an all-around athlete, but a pretty good one at that.

Bratlien was just named as the top girls track and field performer among Region 7 athletes, to cap off her prep athletic career.

Earlier in her senior season Bratlien was named the top performer in volleyball and again in basketball.

This all-around athlete will now carry her skills to the college level and compete for the University of Mary.

She will wrap up her prep career at the state Class B track and field meet this weekend in Bismarck.

We send out a Scope Salute to Bratlien and wish her well this weekend and at the next level of competition.

STUEVE HONORED

Another Scope Salute is set aside for Williston girls tennis coach Wade Stueve.

Upon completion of competition in Minot over the weekend it was announced Stueve had been selected as the West Region Coach of the Year.

This speaks highly of the job he has done with the Williston tennis programs over the past few years.

We understand more than 75 players took part in the WHS girls program this spring.

It appears this program is in good hands.
