Harlem Ambassadors tour comes to Williston Saturday Harlem Ambassadors tour comes to Williston Saturday The internationally-acclaimed Harlem Ambassadors are scheduled to play at The Well at Williston State College at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14 as a stop on their 2006-2007 tour. The tour is scheduled to cover more than 40 U.S. states and will also star in Canada and Asia. The Harlem Ambassadors offer a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball, featuring high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks and hilarious comedy routines. The Ambassadors are led by returning veterans Ketrick “Jazz” Copeland and B.J. “Sugar Bear” Patman and will feature Wesley College superstar T'Neisha Turner as their show player. For nine seasons, the Harlem Ambassadors have shared their amazing basketball skills and comedy genius with communities around the world. A major focus of the Ambassadors is to serve as positive role models for youth. “Kids are heavily involved in all of our shows,” Jazz said. “We try to get every kid in the gym involved in the show in some way or another; by playing games, dancing or just sitting on our bench and meeting our players.” The Ambassadors set themselves apart from other “Harlem” teams by working with local not-for-profit and service organizations and holding Harlem Ambassadors shows as community fundraising events. For Williston's event the Ambassadors have been partnered with the Williston Jaycees, the Williston Lions, the Korner Lions and the Ray Lions to help them raise funds for community service projects by those organizations. The Ambassadors have worked extensively with organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Boys & Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Police Athletic/Activities Leagues and the American Red Cross as well as Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis clubs in communities throughout the U.S. Those shows have helped raise millions of dollars, an accomplishment of which Ambassadors President Dale Moss is very proud. “It feels good to be able to provide quality entertainment and create memories that the fans will take with them,” Moss explained. “We're able to give even more when we can help provide funding for a Habitat for Humanity house or new computers for the school library, and that feels great.” Tickets for the game are available at The Williston Herald, First National Bank and at the door. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. |
